Later that same day.
Well, they tried to get Mama Jane up, but her blood pressure dropped, so she is in bed still. As of 3:30 she has still not gotten up, but she has been in and out most of the day. She has told Kyle one death story, so we know that she is getting there. She has told us that she almost died, several times. We reminded her we were there. She LOVES hearing from everyone who has posted. If you have trouble posting on the blog please send an e-mail to janesurgery@gmail. The only reason I ask is that it makes it easier on us to have one centralized message center.
Jane also wants you all to know not send flowers; she cannot have them in her room. Also people who want to visit, our star is not taking visitors at this time. I will let you know when she is ready to welcome her adoring public.
On a side note, in the hour I have spent out of the hospital walking around I stumbled onto the North Street Market. I am now happy to stay in Baltimore. I have found good food vending stalls. We got a lovely turkey dinner for tonight and Caroline and I had great Mexican food for lunch. If you ever find yourself in need of a market for food and you are stranded at Johns Hopkins this is the place to go.
Well that is about it for now. I will post more after we see her later in the day.
Please keep the messages coming--she loves it.

Hi Jane,
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up!! Ask Paige where that came from. You are always a hoot and a hollar(I am now a Kentucky native) but this is just too much. I can't wait to what you said to my friend Obama during you death walk.
Much love and hugs,
The Kentucky crew and Hughy who says xxxoooo
Hey, Ms. Sillypants, I'm glad you're talking, even if it is silly, 'cause that means you're UNintubated. Yay! We Westhampton ladies do talk nonsense sometimes, right? Keep pumpin' that morphine, girl!
ReplyDeleteSo when do we get to see pictures of cute Kyle. Inquiring minds want to know.
ReplyDeleteIt is very exciting that Jane is now part bovine. For many years, I have had a fascination with
cows (Jane will attest to this.) I have worked hard to overcome this but now that Jane has a vital bovine part, the whole cow fetish thing will probably start all over.
On a brief serious note, March 17, 2010, will be a St. Patrick's Day that I will not soon forget. I am most grateful that our dear Jane has moved through phase 1 of her surgical adventure with flying colors. My humble thanks to God, her surgical/nursing team, four terrific kids and all who have offered prayers and warm thoughts on her behalf.

So glad to hear Jane's on the mend and making up silly stories already! Although I don't like all this talk of death.
ReplyDeleteI am doing my spring planting and have planted some impatiens and sunflower seeds in the last few days-- I will bring the seedlings to Jane for her garden and they will grow up big and strong just like the cow in her heart!
Glad you guys are there for her. Woodberry and Salt restaurants are good eats in Baltimore (for you, not for her) if you have time between visits.
Keep us posted.

I agree ICU nurses are the best. I am happy that all is well and must say you are the first to have had a conversation with Obama, most of my patients spoke with God or on the psych unit were a form of God. Gotta love Morphine.
ReplyDeleteAll our love

PS we got Hugh's Birthday present, WOW I have not even gotten Easter basket things, GO SUPER MOM GO

Having problems posting. Apologies if this appears a zillion times.
Well I have always had a true fondness for cows also, coming from good dairy farming stock. They are magnificent and beautiful creatures and I think it is an honor for Jane to have incorporated a vital part of one of them into herself (on the part of both parties). I will be watching carefully at our many lunches to come to see if I notice any cud chewing motions. If so, I will only smile proudly.
ReplyDeleteI miss you already, Jane. Here's hoping for speedy healing. Love to you.
Sitina and I are grateful to hear the updates and we thank you for them. Sitina has been walking around with Henry (ask Kate) saying "Mamma Jane Mooooo." We are praying for a speedy recovery and send love hugs and kisses to you all. Can't wait until we can see Janie in the flesh to tell her how much we love her.
